I Can't Delete Something
If deleting something fails with a message naming projects, it’s because deleting it would break those projects. AECPulse blocks the deletion rather than quietly removing content other records depend on.
Details used on a project
Section titled “Details used on a project”Deleting a detail that is placed on any project is refused, and the message names every project using it.
Set the detail’s status to Archived instead. Archived details stay exactly where they are on existing projects — nothing you’ve already drawn changes — while dropping out of the list when people add details to new work.
Details also have a Superseded status, which is the better choice when a newer detail replaces an older one, rather than the old one simply falling out of use.
FF&E items scheduled in a project
Section titled “FF&E items scheduled in a project”Deleting an FF&E item that is scheduled into any project room is refused the same way, and the message names the projects it’s scheduled in.
Unlike details, FF&E items have no status, so there’s no archive to move one to. To remove an item you no longer use, take it out of the project rooms still holding it, then delete it. Until then it stays in your library and stays selectable.
Why it works this way
Section titled “Why it works this way”Library content is referenced by projects, not copied into them. A project’s room points at your FF&E item; a project’s detail sheet points at your detail. That’s what lets you correct a price or a drawing once and have every project reflect it — and it’s also why the underlying record can’t vanish while projects still point at it.
