Contractors

Contractors is your directory of general contractors, specialty contractors, and construction firms your firm works with on projects.

Each contractor record holds the company’s information and gives you a place to track:

  • Employees — individual contacts at the contracting firm
  • Projects — the projects they’re working on with your firm

Filtering the list by standing relationship

Section titled “Filtering the list by standing relationship”

The Contractors list has three buttons across the top: All, Active and Preferred. All is what you see when you open the page, so every contractor is there — including any marked Inactive, Do Not Work With or Archived, which you can tell apart by the Standing Relationship column. Use Active or Preferred to narrow it down. Your choice stays put as you page through and sort, and it’s part of the web address, so a link you bookmark or send to someone opens on the same view.

Beside the buttons, the search box finds a contractor by name, email, phone number, or city as you type, once you’ve entered at least two letters; click the × to clear it. Search works together with the status buttons, so a contractor has to match both to show up.

To attach a contractor to a project, open the project, go to its Team tab, and expand the Contractors section. From there you can add any contractor from your directory to that project.

See Manage the project team for step-by-step instructions.

You can add contractors one at a time or in bulk. See:
