Use Comments, To-Dos, and Subtasks
Tasks in AECPulse have several built-in collaboration tools available from the task detail tabs.
Comments
Section titled “Comments”The Comments tab is a discussion thread on the task — use it to leave notes, ask questions, or update teammates.
Adding a comment
Section titled “Adding a comment”- Open the task.
- Click the Comments tab.
- Type your comment in the input area.
- Click Post (or press Enter, depending on your setup).
Editing or deleting a comment
Section titled “Editing or deleting a comment”Find the comment and use the edit or delete option beside it. You can typically only edit or delete your own comments.
To-Dos
Section titled “To-Dos”The To-Do tab holds a checklist of action items within the task. Use this for smaller steps that don’t need to be full tasks.
Adding a to-do item
Section titled “Adding a to-do item”- Open the task and click the To-Do tab.
- Click Add To-Do or type in the new item field.
- Enter the description of the action item.
- Save.
Completing a to-do item
Section titled “Completing a to-do item”Click the checkbox next to a to-do item to mark it done.
Removing a to-do item
Section titled “Removing a to-do item”Use the delete option next to the item to remove it.
Subtasks
Section titled “Subtasks”The Sub Tasks tab lets you nest child tasks under a parent task. Subtasks are full task records with their own status, assignment, and time tracking.
Adding a subtask
Section titled “Adding a subtask”- Open the parent task.
- Click the Sub Tasks tab.
- Click Create Sub Task.
- Fill in the subtask details just like a regular task.
- Save.
If the subtasks’ combined time allotted is more than the parent’s, the form and the Sub Tasks tab show a warning. It’s only a heads-up — you can still save.
Subtasks appear on the dashboard, in the list view, and on the Kanban board just like regular tasks, with a “Sub task of …” note naming their parent. On a subtask’s page, the breadcrumb trail shows the parent, so you can click back to it.
Time logged on a subtask counts toward the parent’s time spent and shows on the parent’s Activity tab, with a note under the entry naming the subtask it was logged on.
